Welcome
Introducing TMS Therapy

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) Therapy uses short pulses of magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the area of the brain thought to control mood. TMS Therapy is performed in a psychiatrist’s office under their supervision while you remain awake and alert. NeuroStar TMS Therapy® is an outpatient procedure. The typical treatment course consists of 5 treatments per week over a 4-6 week period for 20-30 treatments. Each treatment session lasts approximately 37 minutes.

Tech Pioneers: 10 Start-Ups That Will Change Your Life
For a good portion of the 15 million Americans fighting depression, the available treatments of counseling and medication bring scant relief. The next step — electroshock, or, as it has been rebranded, “electroconvulsive” therapy —has frightening side effects. But research into the brain’s complex wiring is yielding new therapeutic avenues. Neuronetics, a Philadelphia-based start-up, has tapped that deepening vein of knowledge to develop a therapy called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Read more.
TMS Therapy was reported as one of the Top 10 Health Innovations of 2009 by CNN
An electromagnetic head piece could help millions of people with depression who have not been helped by antidepressants. The NeuroStar Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy System pulses magnetic fields into patients’ prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that regulates mood. This stimulates neurons to make more mood-enhancing chemicals. After 30-40 minute daily sessions, half of the patients in a clinical trial experiences significantly reduced symptoms and a third reported complete recovery, according to the company behind it, Neronetics. Since mid-2009, the therapy has already come available in 31 states in the U.S.
